New Arrangement – Love Me Back To Life

This week’s New and Never Performed Friday Release is Love Me Back To Life by Natalie Layne.

This SATB closer is fun and funky from beginning to end. Beginning with a treble solo backed up by the full ensemble, the vocal rhythms in this one are full of syncopation. The choir takes over at the chorus, the rests of which are all punctuated by funky horn licks. There is an abbreviated second verse that builds into a big 12-bar dance break where the horns take the lead. There are funky rhythmic hits and the last 4 bars hit hard before it pulls back into a bit of a bridge. Then the chart changes key and kicks into a final chorus, followed by a dance break reprise and final bit of sassy vocal before the final vocal statement and ending. This chart is new and has never been performed, your choir could be the first!

New Arrangement – Castle on the Hill

Today’s New for 2023 Featured Arrangement is Castle on the Hill by Ed Sheeran.

This SATB opener is pretty straightforward. Begins with a bass clef solo that is joined by the choir in the pre-chorus. The choir takes over on the chorus which is full of tight harmonies and suspensions all over the top of a tom groove. The second verse features back and forth between the treble and bass singers and builds into a big dance break where the horns soar on the melody. Out of the dance break is a short pull back moment featuring the soloist again that builds into a key change and final chorus. This arrangement was originally written for Flip Side from Indianola High School in Iowa.
